A Clare secondary school principal is calling on the Department of Education to take a proactive, rather than reactive approach to addressing school transport issues.

It comes as eight students at St John Bosco Community College, Kildysart still don’t have a bus to school in the mornings, despite a handful of others who had previously been unable to access one now being accommodated.

Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey has raised the issue with Ministers Joe McHugh and John Halligan, but says he’s not happy with progress to date.

Denis O’Rourke of St John Bosco’s is also unhappy with what’s been seen so far and says a change of approach is needed for the sake of the pupils.
