A total of 748 young women and 733 young men across Clare will be opening their envelopes this morning, bringing an end to the more than three-month wait for results.

There’s been an increase in A grades in both Irish and Maths at Higher Level; though the numbers achieving the top grade in those subjects at Ordinary Level has dropped slightly.

Just 2% of students have managed the top Distinction grade in the new English cycle, while 18.7% and 25.2% in Higher and Ordinary Levels respectively secured Higher Merit grades.

The results will be issued in schools from this morning, while those who have opted to access them online will have to wait until 4pm.

This year marks the longest wait for Junior Cert students – it’s the first time results have been issued in early October, rather than mid-September, as per tradition.

This arose from the prioritisation of issuing the results of the Leaving Certificate appeals three weeks earlier this year.
