17 schools across Clare are to undergo major improvement works next summer.
Funding has been allocated by the government under the 2020 Summer Works Scheme for works at schools in Ennis, Shannon, Kilrush, Kilmihil, New Quay, Lahinch, Kildysart, Miltown Malbay and Tubber.
Safety systems such as fire alarms and detection, and emergency lighting will be upgraded at three of the schools, while the remaining 14 will be funded for new surfaced play areas and car parks.
