A task force has been launched dedicated to providing upskilling and conversion courses to workers in the tourism, hospitality, retail and service sectors in the Mid-West who are now without work.

Comprised of local employers, business groups, education bodies and government agencies, the task force will conduct all courses online in a 12-week pilot scheme beginning on May 11th.

Before COVID-19 roughly 48,000 people in the Mid-West region were employed in these sectors and with hotels and restaurants set to re-open in only a limited capacity, many of them will still be without work.
