As of the end of last month, 4,252 people across the Banner County were claiming some form of unemployment benefit in Clare.

This marks a monthly drop of just under 300, while it’s almost 440 less than the figure for the same month last year.

It also means that it’s the lowest number of people on the live register in Clare since October of 2007.

When broken down, the single biggest drop in the past month came in the Ennis area, where there’s now 2,315 people signing on; meaning 195 entered the workforce across September.

North Clare dole queues saw a drop of 31 in that time, while East Clare’s numbers dropped by some 56.

Once again, West Clare saw the smallest monthly drop of 15.
