The most recent CSO statistics show 22,793 people in Clare are still receiving money under the live register, temporary wage subsidy, or pandemic unemployment support schemes.

That’s down by less than 10% from a high over over 25,200 in May.

Most of that fall is coming from the pandemic unemployment support payment, which is still being claimed by 12,300 people here.

5,800 are on the wage subsidy scheme, while the live register now stands at 5,738.

That’s up by nearly 400 when compared with the beginning of the pandemic.
