Ennis Chamber Highlights Need For Long-Term Employment Prospects As Live REg Hits 12-Year Low

Ennis Chamber says further investigation is needed into whether those signing off the live register are finding employment locally or further afield.

It comes as the latest CSO figures show the numbers claiming some form of unemployment benefit on this county have reached a 12 year low.

There’s now just over 4,200 people signing on in the county – the single biggest drop in the past month came in the Ennis area, where 195 people left the dole queues across September.

In North Clare there was a fall of 31, in East Clare numbers decreased by 56 and West Clare saw the smallest monthly drop of 15.
