Climate Change And Declining Feeding Grounds Behind Drop In Salmon Population

It’s claimed climate change and declining feeding grounds are among the reasons for a drastic decline in salmon stocks in West Clare.

Salmon drift-netting was banned in the late 2000s to conserve the fish population, despite once being the basis of a thriving economy in the west of this county.

But now, it’s being increasingly acknowledged by the scientific community that there are other issues at play which is causing the worrying decline.
