Children In MidWest Increasingly Likely To Live In Jobless Household – CSO

One in eight children from the MidWest are living in a household which has no adult in employment.

New CSO data has found that the proportion of children living in a jobless household increased by 1.3% in the past year.

A jobless household is one where no adult in the household is working, and the figures exclude households made up completely of students or adults over 65.

The figures also show that the number of people living on their own in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary has jumped by over 16,000 in the past six years.
