ECB raises interest rates

 
Hard-pressed home-owners are being forced to dig a little deeper to pay their mortgages.

It’s after the European Central Bank confirmed this lunchtime a quarter per cent rise in interest rates to 1.25 per cent.

It’s the first hike handed down since July 2008 – and it’s feared the move could pave the way for more increases down the track.
