East Clare Only Part Of County To See COVID Rate Increase This Week

East Clare is the only part of the county to see an increase in its number of COVID-19 cases this week.

Meanwhile, North Clare continues to have one of the lowest rates of the virus in the country.

A further 36 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the Killaloe electoral area in the two weeks up to this past Monday – its rate has gone from the lowest in the country just a few weeks again to 179 per 100,000 people now, just below the national average.

The Ennis area’s prevalence of the disease is above that figure, meanwhile, after 65 more confirmed cases there in that 14 day period see its rate now stand at 210.3.

The Shannon region has seen its incidence rate drop slightly from last week to 177.6, though 54 cases of the virus were detected there in the past fortnight.

The West Clare area continues to see its prevalence fall – 17 cases there in the two weeks up to Monday see it standing at a rate of 81 per 100,000.

North Clare though, continues to be amongst the lowest rates in the country – just 6 cases were confirmed in the Ennistymon electoral area in the past fortnight, leaving its rate at 36.6.

Ten new confirmed cases of the virus here yesterday evening seee Clare’s overall rate at 146.4 – the tenth lowest in the country.
