Clare’s Fine Gael TD has welcomed a 2.5 million euro finding announcement for Clare County Council as a positive intervention by Government.
The local authority was facing a shortfall in rates revenue of almost three million euro as a result of a revaluation of Moneypoint Power Station, a shortfall which could have forced it to cut services.
Now, however, the Minister for Local Government and Planning has confirmed that a significant portion of the losses will be offset by central government.
