€150 million is needed to bring Clare’s roads back the the standard they were at a decade ago.

Clare’s county engineer revealed the figure after concern was raised about the state of country roads, particularly in the western and eastern reaches of the county.

Since 2008, the government has reduced roadwork grants to local authorities by almost 42 percent, which means only patch work as opposed full resurfacing can be carried out in many areas.
