Traffic levels in Clare HAVE fallen since the government’s introduction of more strict lockdown measures.

This data comes from Transport Infrastructure Ireland, who monitor traffic levels at a number of points on the county’s busiest roads.

It compares the 24 hour period of last Friday, October 9th, with the same day one week previously, before the introduction of Level 3 restrictions and the resumption of the Garda’s Operation Fanacht, which sees checkpoints setup at locations throughout the country.
In all locations, the data shows traffic levels have fallen, most notably on the M18 motorway.
Traffic counters at different locations on Clare’s busiest road show traffic levels down by between 23 and 30%, with the biggest drop coming between Gort and Crusheen.
There was only a 7% fall in traffic on the N19 into Shannon, however
In North Clare, there was a 12% drop on the N67 between Ennistymon and Lisdoonvarna, and there was a 17% drop between Ennistymon and Inagh.

Traffic was also down nearly 12% between Ennis and Kilrush, and by nearly 10% between Kilrush and the ferry terminal in Killimer.
