Dreamliner touches down at Shannon

Shannon airport welcomed the latest in flight technology and passenger comfort last night as the new  Boeing 787 Dreamliner made its first landing in Ireland.

The Dreamliner touched down at Shannon shortly after 6 o'clock last evening en route to Boeing field in Seattle following its international début at the Farnborough Air Show in Britain.

The technologically advanced 787, uses 20% less fuel than aircraft of comparable size currently in service and offers airlines up to 45% more cargo revenue capacity, as well as additional passenger comforts like cleaner air and larger windows.

Airport Director Martin Moroney said he looks forward to seeing this aircraft operating commercially through Shannon in the near future.
