Coastal communities in Donegal say they’re shocked following the deaths of two fishermen.

The men – believed to be Lithuanian – were fishing off the north west coast when they tragically lost their lives.

Behind me is Mallon Beag beach just a few kilometres down the coast from where the body of one man was discovered washed up on the rocks yesterday morning.

He had been fishing with a friend – and we don’t know how they got into difficulty.

The coast guard have confirmed they had no emergency radio with them, and mobile phone coverage is spotty at best in this part of Donegal.

Co Councillor Niamh Kennedy says the deaths have been a real blow for the local community.

The coast guard also confirmed earlier that one of the men was not wearing a life jacket.

Post mortems on the bodies of the two men are due to be carried out today.
