There’s disruption to number of flights due to land at Shannon Airport this morning.

Two flights have diverted to other airports, on account of dense fog – a Ryanair flight from Manchester has diverted to Dublin and a Delta flight from JFK has gone on to Cork.

A further four flights are on hold and are currently circling the airport.

A spokesperson from the airport says fog is expected to continue to cause landing difficulties until at least 1 o’clock this afternoon.

Ryanair have issued a statement in respect of today’s disruption.

A spokesperson has told Clare FM that “these flights from London Stansted and Manchester to Shannon (18 Sept) both diverted to Cork due to low visibility at Shannon Airport. Both aircraft landed normally and customers were transferred to Shannon by coach. Ryanair sincerely apologised to all customers affected by this weather diversion, which was entirely beyond our control.”
