Debate Sought On Community Employment Criteria

There are calls for a debate over the criteria for the Community Employment Scheme which has assisted in the provision of a range of works in communities throughout the county.

Currently, those participating in CE schemes must return to the live register after they reach a certain age or after six years involvement, regardless of age.

This means that each of those individuals lost out on the 20 euro per week that they are paid as a result of being on the scheme, but Clare Fianna Fáil Senator Timmy Dooley says the loss to communities is far grater.
