Deal On Irish Border Allows Brexit Talks To Progress To Stage Two

A deal has been reached to move Brexit negotiations onto the next stage.

Leo Varadkar says it’s secured no border with Northern Ireland and they’re happy with the guarantees given.

The Taoiseach quoted Winston Churchill in a speech in which he addressed unionists and nationalists in the north.

According to many pundits, it’s a deal where everyone can claim a win.

Leo Varadkar and Simon Coveney have delivered guarantees on the border; Theresa May has got Brexit talks through to the next stage on time and Arlene Foster can say Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK will stay linked.

But as Labour leader Brendan Howlin has warned, the devil will be in the detail.
