Days Of Sociable Drink ‘Slipping Away’ As Drink Driving Rules Tighten

Fear is being expressed in rural Clare that the days of being able to go for quiet, sociable drink are slipping away.

It’s now almost a month since tighter drink-driving laws came into effect, which automatically disqualify drivers for three months who are found with any alcohol in their system.

The controversial regulations were criticised by some, who said it was the final nail in the coffin for rural Ireland, while many said it would help quash road accidents involving alcohol.
