Two Rescued After Boat Suffered Engine Failure In Lough Derg

Two people have been rescued from Lough Derg, after their 35 foot cruiser suffered engine failure close to Mount Shannon.

Lough Derg RNLI was dispatched shortly before one o’clock yesterday afternoon, at a time when viability was poor.

Two crew members transferred to the vessel and found that the people on board were safe and well and were wearing life jackets. They had dropped anchor and were in no immediate danger.

The crew members checked the cruiser for any damage, after which the boat was towed to Mount Shannon.

Lough Derg RNLI is urging people to make sure your boat is serviced and has sufficient fuel for your journey, before you head out on the waters, and to call 999 or 112 and ask for Coast Guard if you get into difficulty.
