It’s hoped that a funding announcement of over 1 million euro for 34 Clare Sporting organisations will lead to tangible benefits for communities throughout the county.
More than 2,300 individual applications were received for the latest round of the programme, with a total of €37 million allocated to 994 different projects across the country.
The largest portion of the Clare funding of more than €70,300 will go to Kilkee Golf Club for an upgrade of it’s course and clubhouse, and in excess of 65,700 will go to Crusheen Community Centre and Sports Hall.
Newmarket-on-Fergus GAA Club will receive just under €59,490, €58,500 will go to Lisdoonvarna Fáilte and active Ennis will get just shy of €56,900.
Clare’s Junior Minister, Pat Breen has welcomed the funding, and says it will make a big difference.
