Promise To Tackle Poverty Must Be Honoured – Clare SVP

The Clare area President of Saint Vincent de Paul is warning that the long-awaited plan to tackle poverty in Ireland must not be left to gather dust on a shelf.

The government has this week published the report which sets out a five year strategy to reduce consistent poverty to 2% or less by 2025.

According to the most recent data, 270,000 people in Ireland were living in consistent poverty in 2018, which is 5.6% of the population.
