Plans are afoot for a major €400,000 redevelopment of the historic Ennis Scouts Hall.

The scouts’ base has been located on Station Road in the county town since the branch’s formation in 1932 but the building currently in use is no longer fit for purpose.

Planning has been granted to demolish the existing one-storey structure and replace it with a purpose built two-storey building, which will enhance the offering that Ennis Scouts can provide.

They currently have the funding in place to get the build to the first phase and chairperson Fiona Staunton says the changes that will come with their new premises cannot be understated.
