An Bord Pleanala is being called on to expedite a decision on coastal protection works in Doonbeg.

The Trump resort was last week granted planning permission for a 40 million euro upgrade of its facilities, including 53 holiday homes, leisure facilities and a ballroom, but it won’t go ahead unless long awaited coastal works are granted.

Plans were lodged for the controversial works on Doughmore beach in December 2017 and a decision was due this time last year, but locals are concerned over what it would mean for the local economy if they’re turned down.
