New Clare UL Campus “Is Dependent” On Limerick Northern Distributor Road

The President of the University of Limerick says the future of their Strategic Development Zone in Clare is dependent on the Limerick Northern Distributor Road proceeding.

The zone, which was billed in Clare as the equivalent of a new town, would see UL’s campus expand into the Clare side of the border and facilitate up to 3,500 jobs.

The Limerick Northern Distributor Road, meanwhile, is a planned route around Limerick which would improve access to the University from Clare, though it is opposed by a number of residents groups in the area.

Dr Des Fitzgerald says their expanded campus in Clare is a long way off unless there’s progress made soon on the road.
