Memorial In Ennis For International Brigades Volunteer Michael Russell

A memorial event is being held this weekend to commemorate the life of an Ennisman who lost his life while fighting against the regime of former Spanish dictator General Francisco Franco.

Michael Russell joined the International Brigade , and fought in the Spanish Civil War.

He was killed in action in 1937.
