Light Rail System In Shannon Mooted By Chamber

Shannon Chamber is supporting moves that could lead to a rail link for the town.

As part of its submission to a new Transport Plan for the Limerick and Shannon area, the business representative group is calling for a light-rail system to serve the town, along with extended walk-ways and cycle-paths.

Separately, the government is also undertaking a study to assess the potential for a rail link for Shannon Airport and the town.

Currently, 92% of Shannon’s workers travel by car, with many travelling for less than ten minutes.
