Laura Brennan Would Be “Smiling Down” Following HPV Vaccine Surge

The brother of the late cervical cancer campaigner Laura Brennan says she will be smiling down on her legacy, following a surge in HPV vaccine uptake.

The 26-year-old Ennis woman died in March of last year, after campaigning heavily for young people to get the vaccine to prevent their bodies developing HPV-related cancers in later life.

The HSE has revealed a major increase in the vaccination rates – 90% of first year boys and girls in Clare availed of the first dose of the vaccine in September, higher than the national rate of 80%.
