Irish Open Putting Clare On Map – Council CEO

The CEO of Clare County Council says the Irish Open is putting Clare on the map and sending out a strong message to the world that this county is the place to be.

Thousands of people are once again making their way to North Clare this morning, as the event continues today.

Organisers are expecting the weekend to be a sellout – which will be a first for the Irish Open since 2012 – while worldwide, an audience of 500 million will be seeing Lahinch on television.

Meanwhile, a local group of activists has used the Irish Open as an opportunity to demand for more to be done to address climate change.

Extinction Rebellion Clare held a banner displaying the message “Game Over: Climate Action Now!” as Shane Lowry approached the 18th green yesterday.
