A new development plan to foster the Irish language in Ennis is entering its final stages of preparation.

The seven-year plan is being drawn up following last year’s designation of Ennis as one of five non-Gaeltacht towns which will form part of an Irish language network, or líonra Gaeilge.

It will contain a mix of short and longer-term aims, and will be discussed this weekend as part of a major seminar on this government initiative.
