Increase In Mental Health Referrals During Covid-19 Outbreak

A North Clare psychiatrist says the disruption of regular life and work during the COVID-19 outbreak has led to some people relapsing in terms of their mental health.

It’s after a new survey showed that there has been an increase in those referred to mental health services over recent months.

The survey of almost 200 consultant psychiatrists highlighted an initial lull in referrals as the pandemic took hold, followed by an alarming increase in those needing professional help.
