It’s claimed there are at least eight people living with disabilities in Clare who are being inappropriately accommodated in homes for the elderly.

It comes ahead of the visit of the Minister with responsibility for Disability Issues to Ennis, where he will address a gathering of activists and local politicians.

Finian McGrath has been invited by the Clare Leader Forum, who are looking for provisions of the Disability Act to be implemented, in order to improve lives for those living with disabilities.

PRO of the Forum Anne Marie Flanagan says placing these people in care homes for older people is having a major negative impact on their health.
