Clare’s Sinn Féin TD has withdrawn her comments criticising the HPV vaccine.
Newly elected Violet Anne Wynne has issued a statement saying previous comments on social media, in which she questioned the vaccine, don’t reflect her “current views or Sinn Féin policy”.
In posts on Facebook in 2017 Violet-Anne Wynne said the vaccine has side-effects, and that concerns about it are not being heard.

The comments have been widely condemned, including by Health Minister Simon Harris.
Clare’s Fine Gael TD, Joe Carey is accusing Deputy Wynne of undoing the good work of the late Laura Brennan, who campaigned for better uptake of the HPV Vaccine.
