Clare-Based Asylum Seeker Adds Voice To Calls for End To Direct Provision

A Clare-based asylum seeker has added his voice to calls for an end to Direct Provision in this country.

The movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland, which was set up five years ago, held its first national conference in Dublin at the weekend and Bulelani Mfaco, who has been living at Knockalisheen for two years delivered the keynote address.

A number of reports have been commissioned into Direct Provision, with the Ombudsman saying it’s not suitable for long-term stay and the Children’s Ombudsman saying no child should be growing up within the system.
