Shock In Sixmilebridge Following Shooting During Popular Music Festival

Shock is being expressed in Sixmilebridge following a shooting that saw two men hospitalised at the weekend.

Gardaí responded to the incident, which occurred outside a pub on Pound Street, at around 12:20am on Saturday morning, when the village was busy due to the Shannonside Winter Music Festival.

A 21-year-old man, believed to be from Clare, and a 66-year-old man who was said to be visiting the area, were taken to University Hospital Limerick with non life threatening injuries.


Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Alan O’Callaghan says though people in the area is used to seeing incidents like this on the news, it’s frightening to see it on your doorstep.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses, or people with dashcam footage around the time of the incident to come forward.
