Man Arrested Following Shannon Drugs Seizure

A man in his 20s has been arrested following the seizure of €21,000 worth of drugs in Shannon.

A search was carried out by Revenue under a warrant, took place in the town earlier today.

Just over a kilogram of herbal cannabis was discovered by Revenue officers in the course of their search in the Shannon area today.

The search was conducted as part of an intelligence led, joint operation by Revenue’s Customs Service, members of the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Clare’s Garda Drugs Unit.

The cannabis has an estimated street value of €21,000.

A 24 year old man was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained in Shannon Garda Station under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

It’s the second seizure in recent days in Clare, following a separate find of €21,700 of suspected cannabis, tobacco and cash after a search at a house in Parteen on Saturday.

Investigations are ongoing following both operations.
