Man Arrested After West Clare Robberies

Gardaí have arrested a man, as they contine to investigate two attempted robberies of post offices in West Clare this afternoon.

At around 12:15pm today, a lone male entered the Post Office in Quilty, where he told staff he had a weapon and demanded money from them but left empty handed.

Around half an hour later, a man entered the branch in Miltown Malbay and again, staff were threatened and money was demanded but nothing was taken.

It’s thought the man left on foot in this second incident.

Gardaí believe the incidents are linked, and this evening arrested man.  He is being questioned at Kirush Garda Station.

It has also been determined that no firearm was used in either incident.
