In general terms, Clare’s crime levels are on a par with previous years, when senior officers have described crime levels here as low.

But there have been some spikes, with 70 burglary offences – their highest level in fifteen months – and 80 arrests for carrying drugs for personal use. That is the highest level in any three month period since Spring of 2015.

The six cases of drug driving detected here was the highest in any quarter since 2013, but at the same time, the 31 arrests for drink driving was the lowest for any three month period dating back to 2003.

The second lowest number for this offence was in the last three months of last year.

The number of assaults causing harm was at its lowest leve in six years, while the 78 incidents of disorderly conduct is also the lowest recorded since records began in 2003.

These figures may have been impacted by the beginning of the COVID-19 related restrictions from March.
