Elderly residents of a Sixmilebridge housing estate are said to be fearing for their lives, following a video which has circulated of what’s a violent incident, understood to be related to a feud.
The footage appears to show a row and a man, who is said not to be from the locality, is seen taking a hatchet from his car and moves towards where the altercation is taking place.
It’s now understood that tensions have escalated and many more “call out” videos have been going around on WhatsApp, relating to the feud.
A Garda spokesperson has confirmed to Clare FM that they are aware of tensions in the area and are monitoring the situation, while they’re urging those involved not to antagonise and say they remain on hand to mediate talks if required.
Local Independent Councillor PJ Ryan has been telling Clare FM’s James Mulhall that it’s a worrying time.
