Clare Gardaí are mounting extra checkpoints on the roads this Bank Holiday weekend as part of Operation Lockdown.
Along with their usual crackdown on speeding and other road safety offences, officers will be focusing efforts specifically between the hours of 7pm and 4am each day, over the next three days.
Drink and drug driving will be the main focus but Gardaí will also be on the lookout for pedestrians walking home over the limit, posing a risk to themselves and other road users.
