Clare Gardaí Make Three Drugs Seizures Following Spate Of Searches

Clare Gardaí have carried out three seizures in relation to drugs offences across the county over the past week.

A spate of searches were carried out by the drugs unit here from Monday last until yesterday.

As part of a crackdown on drugs offences in Clare, Gardaí have carried out thirty searches across the county over the past seven days, with some success in uncovering drugs activity.

On Saturday last at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, Gardaí on a COVID-19 patrol stopped and searched a man at Avondale, Newmarket-on-Fergus.

During the course of the search, the man was found to be in possession of cash in excess of €2000 and almost €700 worth of illegal substances; including cocaine, cannabis and Xanax tablets.

Separately, €300 worth of Cannabis Herb was seized by Gardaí when they carried out a search of a house in the Cois Creann estate in Newmarket-on-Fergus.

Finally, in a search carried out in the Tiermaclane area, on the outskirts of Ennis,
cocaine with a value of approximately €30,000 was seized on Saturday.

A man was arrested on Sunday and detained at Shannon Garda Station and was later released without charge.

A file is being prepared for submission to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
