Councillors Clash Over County Rates

Concern's been raised over Clare's competitiveness as a place to do business, amid claims of a divide between Ennis and other areas.

Local representatives in Ennis have decided to freeze the commercial rate in the town at 65.45, as it was when Ennis Town Council was in place.

However, outside of Ennis, companies are paying a less-competitive rates charge of 72.99 and Shannon Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn is one of those concerned that this will drive potential employers elsewhere.
