Council Urged To Address Shannon “Decline”

A long-time Shannon Councillor has claimed the town is going “downhill” under the control of Clare County Council.

Independent representative Gerry Flynn has made the comments after he called on the local authority to put forward proposals to arrest what he describes as the ‘economic and social decline’ in Shannon Town.

The Council has defended its track record, pointing to the soon-to-be-developed Shannon Town Park and Venue projects, while it also says a number of private planning applications have been granted, including for housing and a cinema.
