Clare County Council is projected to spend around three quarters of a million euro on Traveller accommodation in 2018.

Figures released by the local authority at its monthly meeting reveal that this is a more than 200% increase on the figure of €243,000 from two years ago.

Waste collection costs last year were around €66,000 – that figure alone is set to rise to around €195,000 this year, while security costs are expected to come in at €120,000, up from just €6,600 in 2017.
