Council Seeks Expressions Of Interest For Rural Uber System

Companies are being called on to submit solutions for a planned “rural Uber” system to address transport shortages and isolation in Clare.

CarShareIT, which was identified in the county development plan has just been launched and aims to match those in need of transport with private drivers who have available transport.

Jaguar Land Rover, which is developing technology for self-driving cars at it’s new facility in Shannon, is engaging with the initiative through its role in the Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Ireland initiative.

The initiative is being part-funded by Enterprise Ireland to the tune of €25,000 and firms are now being invited to submit plans as part of a tendering process.
