Council Make Submission To EPA Over Concerns Regarding Irish Cement’s Limerick Plant

Clare County Council have made a detailed submission to the Environmental Protection Agency over a proposal by Irish Cement to burn alternative fuels at its plant at Castlemungret in Limerick.

It follows a motion earlier this year by Meelick Councillor Cathal Crowe, who’s raised concerns over the impact on near by communities of Meelick, Cratloe, Shannon, Bunratty and Sixmilebridge, and also into parts of north and west Clare.

The Fianna Fáil Councillor says he has major concerns over the impact on human health and also the potential environmental damage.
