Council hopes to have near normal water supply within 4 days

Water restrictions across Clare are set to continue right through the Bank Holiday and possibly into Tuesday of next week.

The lengthy night time shut-offs resume tonight after a brief reprieve last night in order to facilitate the New Years Eve festivities across the county.

Most areas around Ennis, Shannon East and South East Clare will be affected from 8 pm until 8 am while parts of North Clare will experience water cut offs from 11.30.

Households in The Westbury Estate and Tulla Village also may experience water shortages until 6 this evening while emergency repairs to burst and leaking pipes are carried out by Clare County Council.

Meanwhile up to 900 individual homes right across the county remain totally without water or only have a very limited supply .

Director of Services at Clare County Council David Timlin says they are working round the clock to address the problems but says it will be 3 to 4 days before supply is restored for the most part
