Council To Hear From Presidential Election Hopefuls This Friday

Candidates who are seeking place on the Presidential election ticket are to be invited to make their cases to Clare’s local representatives this week.

Councillors have decided to convene a special meeting this coming Friday afternoon, at which those who are looking to go up against President Michael D Higgins will make their pitches.

Each prospective candidate requires the support of four local authorities in order to get their names onto the ballot.

At least eight people have indicated that they’re seeking the Council’s support – namely Gavin Duffy, Joan Freeman, Sarah Louise Mulligan, Peter Casey, Gemma O’Doherty, Kevin Sharkey, Marie Goretti Moylan and John Groarke.
