Council Expresses No Confidence In Minister Simon Harris

Clare County Council has voted no confidence in Health Minister Simon Harris.
The vote was held at this evening’s monthly meeting of the local authority, in the wake of the long-running overcrowding situation at University Hospital Limerick.
14 Councillors backed the motion, though it was rejected by all of the Fine Gael members of the Council – Cathaoirleach Michael Begley abstained.
Five Fine Gael Councillors – Johnny Flynn, Paul Murphy, Mary Howard, John Crowe, Joe Cooney – had attempted to amend the motion to one of no confidence in hospital management, but this was ruled out of order.
